Central Susquehanna Surgical Specialists offers a wide range of surgical procedures. Our highly trained surgeons, together with a caring and efficient support staff are committed to bringing the highest professional standard of personal and compassionate care to the individuals of Lewisburg and the surrounding communities.

For many procedures there has been a shift in recent years from traditional open surgery techniques to less invasive (minimally invasive) techniques. These minimally invasive alternatives usually result in less pain, scarring, and recovery time for the patient. Procedures that can typically be performed with a minimally invasive approach include surgery of the gallbladder, appendix, hernia, esophagus, and colon.

Comprehensive breast care services are offered in conjunction with the Thyra M. Humphrey’s Center for Breast Health. Services include evaluation and management of breast disease by board certified surgeons, advanced imaging capabilities, and minimally invasive biopsies using state of the art equipment. Services are streamlined to minimize anxiety and stress to the patient. The surgeons have adopted a multidisciplinary approach by coordinating care with oncologists, radiologists and pathologists. The surgeons and the staff at the Center are committed to continuing education and advancement in the treatment of all breast disease.

Bariatric surgery offers individuals permanent weight loss through surgery. The practice offers this service through the Bariatric Clinic at Evangelical Community Hospital. The clinic along with Central Susquehanna Surgical Specialists offers a comprehensive weight loss program that includes health monitoring, medical and individual progress reviews, nutrition counseling, individualized meal plans, personalized exercise plans, behavior modification plans, monthly support group meetings, and “Bari-Buddy” (phone and e-mail network).

Vascular surgery services focus on minimally invasive procedures to treat blockages and abnormalities of blood vessels outside of the heart. Specific procedures performed include carotid artery surgery, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, balloon angioplasty and stenting procedures, remote endarterectomy procedures, hemodialysis access procedures, lower extremity bypass surgery, and VNUS closure procedure for varicose veins. Vascular services are offered in conjunction with the Vascular Center at Evangelical Community Hospital.

Our surgeons staff the Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at Evangelical Community Hospital. The Clinic is dedicated to healing chronic and acute wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, and other conditions. The surgeons work with the patient’s primary care surgeon and other specialists to comprehensively manage the patient's wound and health conditions. Patients also have access to a nutritionist, a diabetes educator and a vascular specialist at the Clinic. In December of 2009, the Wound Care Clinic welcomed the addition of hyperbaric medicine to the clinic. Hyperbaric treatments enhance the healing of problem wounds.

Otolaryngologist services include the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, throat, and head and neck disorders. Dr. Ayers specializes in Sinus Problems, Balloon Sinuplasty, Diseases of the Mouth and Throat, Treatment of Allergic Diseases, Snoring and Sleep Apnea, Ear and Balance Disorders, Hoarseness and Voice Disorders, Thyroid and Parotid Surgery, Lesion Removal, and Facial Plastic Surgery.

Our audiologist, Dr. Krystal Strazik, is trained to evaluate the hearing of adults, infants, and children. Through a variety of testing she can determine the nature of an individual’s hearing problem and offer a variety of treatment options to patients with hearing impairments. Dr. Strazik is trained to dispense and fit hearing aids from reputable manufactures like Oticon, Phonak, and Siemens. Customized hearing protection solutions are also available.

The Cutera Coolglide laser is FDA approved to permanently reduce hair in patients of all skin types and tones. Painful waxing, time consuming electrolysis, and shaving can be a thing of the past. Results are noticeable after the first treatment.
